Healthy
marine environment especially the coral reefs are essential
for the development of sustainable fishery as they support
and nourish the fisheries resources.
Destructive
fishing practices, such as cyanide and dynamite fishing
would deplete the targeted fish stock and cause serious
impacts on smaller fish, invertebrates, coral and the
marine ecosystem as a whole.
Both
reef fish and associated trade will decline if fishermen
and traders do not behave responsibly. Consumers will
also suffer.
